Wet'suwet'en First Nation
What an amazing experience we all had together in the quilt room. I brought with me quilting and healing techniques to share and the Wet’suwet’en quilters were so warm and welcoming. It is while in this community that I was prompted to learn more about my own family history and culture because of how generously the group shared theirs. So many quilts were created during the 3 programs I lead in the community. Many of the first quilts made were gifted at a Headstone Potlatch. I was honoured to not only attend the ceremony but I was also invited to dance into the feast hall with the quilters and our quilts.
Skin Tyee First Nation
Community, that was the theme and the feeling throughout the program at Skin Tyee. We ate wonderful home prepared food together, gathered, laughed, shared and created many beautiful quilts. One of the participants has been creating amazing art quilts for years, I was thrilled to see pictures of them. The reconnection with friends from early school days made this experience at Skin Tyee feel like a bit of a coming home. I left like a part of the community while I was there.

Woyenne
The quilters at Woyenne were so open to learning and expanding both their quilting skills and their healing tools that the group fully encompassed what the program is all about. The boldness, bravery and healing tools learned from the first program have been brought into the second program, really boosting the experience. The Woyenne women are the very first I have the honour of hosting in my brand new studio. I’m excited to be spending fall of 2023 with these wonderful women.

Tachet
A small and mightly group. The first group to have a man participate, he was a wonderful addition to the group. The Tachet quilters were so willing to dig deep into the healing ideas, processes and tools I presented to them that wonderful conversations and sharing occurred. Friendships were rekindled and made. I so look forward to visiting Tachet again and continue to build connection, skills and healing.
